Reuben Graber
Project Manager
This month, we are highlighting Reuben, one of our many Project Managers.
From scaling steep residential roofs to managing major commercial builds, Reuben knows exactly what it takes to bring a construction project to life. As a Project Manager at Wagler Commercial Framing, he uses his decade of field experience to solve complex puzzles, keep teams coordinated, and drive company growth. But when the hard hat comes off, Reuben trades the job site for the great outdoors to manage a fascinating passion project you might not expect.
Get to know Reuben below.
Q: What is your role here at Wagler, and what does a typical day on the job look like for you?
A: I am a Project Manager at Wagler Commercial Framing. A typical day consists of meetings, reviewing takeoffs, working through change orders, coordinating with teams, and helping keep projects moving forward. Every day is a little different, which keeps things interesting and provides new challenges to solve.
Q: How did your journey with Wagler Commercial Framing first begin?
A: I was introduced to Wagler through someone I knew and was given the opportunity to join the team as a Project Manager. It felt like a great fit from the beginning, and I’ve enjoyed being part of the company’s continued growth.
Q: How long have you been with the company, and what has been the biggest change you’ve seen during your time here?
A: I’ve been with Wagler for a little over a year. The biggest changes I’ve noticed have been the continued growth of the company, the size and complexity of the projects we take on, and the increased use of technology to help manage our work more efficiently.
Q: What got you into commercial framing in the first place?
A: Before joining Wagler, I spent over 10 years in residential framing, remodeling, and building pole barns. I always enjoyed construction and the satisfaction of seeing a project come together from start to finish. After breaking a bone in my foot, I realized climbing steep roof slopes every day probably wasn’t a long-term plan, so I started looking for a new opportunity. When the Project Manager position at Wagler became available, it felt like a great chance to apply my field experience in a different way while continuing to be part of the construction industry.
Q: Is there a specific project you’ve worked on with Wagler that you are most proud of?
A: I don’t have one specific favorite project. Every project presents its own challenges and opportunities, and I’ve enjoyed being part of all of them. Some require more coordination and problem-solving than others, but seeing a project through successfully and knowing the team worked together to make it happen is something I really love to see every time.
Q: What is the most challenging or rewarding part of the work you do every day?
A: The most rewarding part is working with people, helping my team succeed, and continuing to learn new things. Construction is always changing, and there’s always an opportunity to improve and grow. The most challenging part is balancing the many moving pieces of a project while trying to keep everything on track, but that’s also what makes the work rewarding.
Q: How would you describe the team dynamic and culture here at Wagler?
A: The team at Wagler is supportive and focused on working together to get the job done. There is a strong willingness to help one another, and everyone is committed to delivering quality work while continuing to improve. It’s a team-oriented environment where people genuinely want to see each other succeed.
Q: What is one piece of advice you would give to someone just starting out in the commercial framing industry?
A: Be willing to learn, ask questions, and stay adaptable. There is a lot to learn in this industry, and the people who are successful are the ones who continue to grow, listen to those with experience, and aren’t afraid to take on new challenges.
Q: When you are not on the clock or at a job site, how do you like to spend your free time?
A: I enjoy spending time with my kids and being outdoors. I also have a whitetail deer farm, which is something I am very passionate about. Raising and caring for the deer is a rewarding experience, and I enjoy watching them grow and develop over the years.

Q: What is your name and your role at Wagler LLC?
A: My name is Laura Cantu and my role is Administrative Assistant
Q: How long have you worked at Wagler?
A: I started working in the early 2000s
Q: What initially drew you to come work at Wagler?
A: I came to work one summer in West Lafayette, I used to work as a teacher, and while I was in West Lafayette, my husband went to one of the Wagler jobsites and asked about getting a job. He met Larry and was offered a job. My husband would drive me to work, and then drive to the jobsite. Larry mentioned that if I would like a job next summer, that we would both be welcomed to come. The following summer, both my husband and I would help out at the jobsites.
Q: What does your job look like, day-to-day
A: My job is to help do the employee’s hours, I work with workyard alongside Brian Mata. I check that everyone clocks in and clocks out within the correct jobsite hours. I do talk to the employees if I see some issues on their hours, and sometimes they call in when workyard doesn’t work on their end. I need to fix these issues and be in contact with the employees at all times.
Q: How does Wagler prioritize safety at the jobsites and what do you do to help with that.
A: WCH’s first priority is safety. I used to help with safety out in the field. Now that I am in the office, I am able to read the daily construction reports, and if I see something that may be an issue, I can easily get in touch with the person who reported it and get them to fix it.
Q: What is a project you often think about?
A: I think about River North, in Nashville, Tennessee. I remember being asked to translate the safety meetings every Monday. At the beginning I was kind of scared, there were 300 employees, but then I realized that I was able to do it. And then every Monday, my husband and I were asked to translate all of the training. I also had to do a lot of Job Safety Analysis, my hands were very full on that project.
Q: What is the Wagler LLC culture like?
A: Everybody is treated equally. If anyone ever needs help, everyone is willing to help them out. Any issues, any questions, someone is there to help you. We are a family.
Q: What makes Wagler stand out?
A: Walger is a very understandable company, they treat people very well. Everyone has a chance to grow within the company. Our boss is an awesome, christian person. If we ever have an issue, especially regarding family, he says “family first”.
Q: What are some goals you have for yourself in the future at Wagler?
A: Some of my goals include becoming a better person, a better worker, and being able to give as much as I can to the company.
